Syncrhonizing two computers has stopped working - Active Sync 4.5

I have a WM6 device with activesync 4.5 on two computers.
I was able to sync to both computers; between the three devices. This worked for a long time.

After a problem I encountered, I had to delete the partnership with my OfficePC. I recreated afterwards.

Now, I cannot sync to both devices in rotation. If I set up an association with OfficePC, it syncs fine. Setting up an association on HomePC works fine too.

However, when I go back to OfficePC, I'm no longer recognized, warned that only 2 computers can be associated, and invited to delete one. I do, give it again the same name (OfficePC) and it works fine. Until I go to the other computer (HomePC) where I face again the message that is not recognized and I must delete one of the two partnerships.

ActiveSync will change the name of the device

ActiveSync will take the "initiative" to change the name of your device without even telling you about this.

You can see the device name from you phone menu:
Settings/System/About/Device ID

Answer 2 (not verified):

Delete the entries in
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners and
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Tombstone
on both machines.

On the handheld device you also have to delete the two entries under
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
P1 and P2.

As far as I have noticed you have to do a double synchronization (plug in Usb, let it do the works, unplug and replug) on the first machine, reset the device, and then do the same thing on the second machine. After that synchronizing should work normally.

contacts data deleted

By using this procedure, all contacts data in the phone's address book were deleted on the next synchronization.
ActiveSync it too problematic. Give it an empty address book and a full address book to synchronize and ActiveSync will decide to delete the full address book. Amazing stories!

I reloaded the contacts from a recent backup of sprite backup.

You must tell ActiveSync that you will connecting to two different computers when you create the first partnership. Did you do that?

I have same problem

I have same problem (activesync 4.5), whenever I go from one machine to the other, it acts as though it’s a “new” machine and will not proceed until I delete the pre-existing relationship set-up from the time before.
Very annoying.
It does not require rocket-science to synchronize a windows mobile phone with a microsoft computer and still microsoft managed to mess it up.
